I just wanted to hear some opinions on something. I've been seeing more breeders and web sites advertising turtles for sale (most are red ear sliders) with genetic abnormalities- some are color variations, but some are continued to be bred because their offspring have no eyes, two heads, abnormal shells... With these abnormalities they can bring in a huge profit: I just came across a two headed RES being sold for $15,000, which prompted this discussion. It is definitly interesting, but to continue to breed them...is this ethical?

Personally, I think it's a horrible idea. Would this be tolerated if they were breeding puppies without eyes? Intentionally breeding disabilities into an animal seems cruel at best. Ethical? Hardly!
