Greetings Suzanne, Peter, all group members,
My name is Luis A. Plata. I'm 42, and a lifelong turtle lover currently living in Miami Beach, Florida - U.S.A.

I was intrigued when I came upon this site at the prospect of participating with a European group that share my same passion for turtles, and am very happy to be here.

I love all kinds of turtles, but keep only those species that can thrive in my local climate here. Basically, that just means no desert-dwelling species because of the humidity.

I have a particular affinity for New World Box Turtles (Terrapene) of which I have several.
I also have Central American Wood Turtles, and several aquatic species (Sliders, Painteds & Softshells).
I'll be posting pictures of some of my buds shortly for your enjoyment.

I also aspire to acquire at some point, The Mexican species of Terrapene, as well as 'Trachemys Decussata Decussata', The Eastern Cuban slider, none currently unavailable here locally.

Lastly, I can communicate fluently in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. No doubt some of the members may find that useful.

Once again, I'm very happy to participate with you, and hope to contribute, and well as learn.

Blessings,
Luis A. Plata
Miami Beach, FLA
