Introduction:

"We had a pet Hermann's tortoise for over 30 years, which we had to give to a friend when we moved to Switzerland. We'd like to get another now that we're here. We learned that this club's leaders have ten Hermann's. That's why we joined the Society."

Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.

"We gave our tortoise books and other items to the friends who accepted our tortoise when we moved house. When we acquire another tortoise, we might borrow such items from club members until we buy our own. Then we can lend ours to other members."

Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?

"We had just one Hermann's tortoise in our garden, a lonesome virgin female. We knew no other tortoise owners, so couldn't find a mate for her. We now realize we could have borrowed a male to mate with her if we were members of this club at the time."

Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?

"We're interested in acquiring another tortoise as a pet. To the surprise of many visitors, tortoises have personalities as individual as those of cats or dogs, but are much easier to care for. Let us know if you hear of a Hermann's tortoise for sale."

Additional information:

"We were thrilled to learn such a large and vibrant turtle and tortoise club exists, and that it's centered so close to our home in Meyrin. We intend to be very active members, sharing advice about tortoise care and feeding at every meeting we attend."
