Location: Genève ch
- Introduction:
- "As newcomers to the Geneva area (we recently moved to Borex), we don't know many people. But we've always loved turtles, and would enjoy meeting neighbors who share this interest. We'll keep our turtles in an aquarium until we build our garden pond."
- Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.
- "We've had two red-eared sliders for 12 years, and take them with us whenever we move house. We have no turtle books, so we don't even know what gender they are. We joined the club to learn more about them, and intend to attend meetings regularly."
- Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?
- "Our red-eared sliders live in a 200-liter aquarium, which we're sure is no longer large enough for them. We plan to build a fenced-in garden pond for them, now that we've read on the club's website that turtles can live peacefully with goldfish."
- Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?
- "We know how hard it is to stop 'progress.' Wildlife habitats are continually being enproached upon by home builders, but what's the alternative? They're still making new people, and people need homes to live in. At least our turtle pets are safe."
- Additional information:
- "The creation of this club was inspired. We had no idea that dozens of families in the Geneva area keep turtles as pets. We joined the Society to meet many of them at the monthly meetings to exchange tips on feeding and caring for these charming pets."
