Introduction:

"We recently moved to the Geneva area, into a home with a garden that's surrounded by a low concrete wall. We're planning to add tortoises to the garden, but want to get as much information as we can about their care and feeding before we choose any."

Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.

"Because we're so new at this, we have no items to offer yet. We'll buy whatever we need to create a good life for our tortoises, and will share any extra items we acquire with other club members. We just signed up to attend the club's next meeting."

Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?

"This will be our first foray into keeping tortoises. In the past we've had cats, dogs and birds, but no reptiles or amphibians. We'll be asking lots of questions at the meetings, and possibly offer answers and advice as we become more knowledgeable."

Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?

"We joined the club to learn which tortoises are best suited for this environment, and would survive winters hibernating in our garden. We're also concerned about the survival of wild specimens, but are mostly interested in keeping tortoises as pets."

"We're impressed with all the information and photos available on this web site. The site seems to be a perfect resource for people like us who are acquiring tortoises for the first time. Meeting in a different club member's home each month is great."
