"We're spreading the word among our friends about Suzanne and Peter's Turtle and Tortoise Sanctuary. Unwanted pets can live out their lives in an ideal natural environment there. We hope other Society members give their friends the information too."

Introduction
We moved from downtown Lyon to Chavannes last year, so now we have a garden, with a pond under construction. Each of us has had turtles and tortoises before we met, and we want to get such pets again. That's why we joined this wonderful organization.
Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.

Right now we have nothing to offer but our home and garden as a venue for future meetings of the Society. We'll be bringing another couple who had turtles and tortoises to the meetings.

Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?

We've had Mississippi map turtles in a 50-gallon tank, common snapping turtles in a 125-gallon tank, and a Carolina (eastern) box turtle walking around my old apartment. The box turtle once laid eggs in a corner, but of course they didn't hatch out.

Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?

Continued habitat destruction is causing the extinction of many endangered species. Humans are the most dangerous inhabitants on this planet, because we're the only species capable of destroying all life on earth. We have to stop this encroachment.

My Meetup Groups

  •  The membership includes expert herpetologists who can answer all our questions about turtles and tortoises, but the amateur pet-keepers are just as interesting to talk with. Listening to descriptions of each group member's turtle or tortoise and learning about their amusing antics is just one of the pleasures enjoyed at every meeting. We never met a more interesting group of people anywhere.

  •  The members of this club all seem to be personable, intelligent, and genuinely friendly. We're really glad we joined.
