Location: Versoix ch
- Introduction:
- "I worked in the Geneva offices of the UN for years as a French-English translator, but now do translations on a freelance basis. I've also studied herpetology extensively, so I can answer most Society members' questions about turtles and tortoises."
- Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.
- "I have many books on reptiles and amphibians in my home in London, but none in Versoix. I can't lend any out, but Society members could read them whenever they're visiting my London home."
- Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?
- "I keep only koi carp in my ponds in London and Versoix, but wouldn't call them "pets." I've studied reptiles like turtles, tortoises, lizards, snakes, crocodilians, and tuataras, and amphibians like toads, frogs, salamanders and newts."
- Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?
- "I'm mostly interested in the scientific investigation of all reptiles and amphibians, not just turtles and tortoises. I'm not interested in keeping them as pets, because specimens living in the wild produce more meaningful scientific studies."
- Additional information:
- "I'm not interested in making social chit-chat at such meetings, but would be happy to discuss chelonians and other herps on a scientific level."

Meetups
-
Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society
"Without exception, each member I spoke with was passionate to learn the best way to give their turtles or tortoises the proper care. Whether they were expert herpetologists or just deciding which pet to get, they each had something to contribute to the stimulating conversations we enjoyed all afternoon. There's never a dull moment at this organization's meetings."
-
Geneva Area Pond Club
"Special-interest groups formed naturally during the get-together, and we wandered into and out of groups discussing aquatic plants, breeding fish, pond construction, fish foods, etc. It was much more enjoyable than a formal meeting."
