Location: Crissier ch
- Introduction:
- "I haven't kept turtles or tortoises since I was a kid, but I've always loved them. Now that there's an organization of turtle experts near my home (I live in Crissier), I'll attend the meetings every month and decide which species to get as a pet."
- Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.
- "I have none of the above to offer. I'd like to borrow some books to help me decide which species of turtle to get, then buy (and lend) my own books about that species. I registered for the organization's first meeting as soon as I learned about it."
- Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?
- "I had two red-eared sliders when I was young. I kept getting larger aquariums for them as they grew. To everyone's surprise, they lived to adulthood. But we moved to Europe 12 years later, and I had to leave them behind with a friend who loved them."
- Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?
- "I'm mostly interested in getting a turtle as a pet. I have a secure pond, but my garden isn't fenced in, so a tortoise is likely to wander away. I'd like advice on what kind of turtle would be best living in my pond."
- Additional information:
- "I'd like to advise other pond owners to check on another English-language organization I've joined, the Geneva Area Pond Club. Log on to www.Ponds.Meetup.com/1 for information."

"A bright and friendly collection of animal-lovers has been brought together to share their experiences and expertise. Learning how to take care of turtles and tortoises from knowledgeable local fanciers is much more enjoyable than reading about them in books. I recommend joining this club to anyone interested in these wonderful reptiles."

Geneva Area Pond Club
"Club members that we met ranged in age from their 20s to their 80s, but all seem to have a youthful attitude, eager both to learn and to pass on information about this fascinating hobby."
