Location: Carouge ch
- Introduction:
- "I'm a retired expatriate American living in Carouge, not far from Geneva. I live alone, so I'd love to have friends to talk with about turtles and many other topics, especially about nature and the environment."
- Do you have any turtles, tortoises, incubators, shelters, books or other items you'd like to exchange with other club members? Have you decided whether or not you can attend our next monthly meeting? Please submit your RSVP on that meeting's page.
- "Since I learned from Peter all the mistakes I made when creating my mud-bottomed pond, I've bought many pond books that I'd be happy to lend to other Society members. I have nothing else to offer. I'll be coming to the first meeting with a friend."
- Describe the kinds of turtles or tortoises you keep or have kept as pets. How are they housed and fed? Have any of them produced offspring while in your care? Do you have any questions, or can you offer advice, about their care?
- "My wildlife pond has become home to many frogs, toads, newts, salamanders, and even snakes, but so far no turtles or tortoises have discovered it. I'm hoping to learn what changes to make to attract and care for them. That's why I joined the Society."
- Are you mostly interested in keeping turtles and/or tortoises as pets, or in preserving their habitats to assure their survival in the wild? Are you interested in other reptiles, amphibians or other animals? What other specific interests do you have?
- "I'm mostly concerned about preserving natural habitats for wild animals, being encroached upon even in an enlightened nation like Switzerland. I've created a wildlife pond on my property to provide a good home for some creatures in my neighborhood."
- Additional information:
- "I don't speak French yet, so I was pleased to learn there are English-speaking organizations like the Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society and the Geneva Area Pond Club."

Meetups
-
Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society
"I'm normally very shy among strangers, but the members of this organization made me feel very welcome and at ease right from the start. It gave me the confidence to describe in great detail my wildlife pond and its success in attracting many creatures to my garden, and everyone seemed interested in what I had to say. Turtles and tortoises have to stay in their shells all their lives, but now I've started coming out of mine."
-
Geneva Area Pond Club
"This club seems to have as members the friendliest and funniest people we've ever met, so we expect to attend these meetings for years to come."
